ONLINE COUNSELING FOR INDIVIDUALS IN MARYLAND & FLORIDA
CONSULTATIONS & EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE
Whether you struggle with a chronic sense of anxiety or guilt, overthink what to do about career or other decisions, or don’t know what to do about an important relationship…
I’m here to help you find freedom by teasing apart the unique variables and patterns that cause you suffering. It is totally possible to respond differently in your life and your relationships. And, I’ll shed light on the options that can bring you peace and relief.
What to expect in therapy with me
I am dedicated to helping you experience long-term peace of mind by learning how to work with yourself and others in a way that works with human nature…and not against it.
I’ve been told by clients (and others) that they appreciate my direct, honest, yet gentle approach. My clients don’t want “fluff,” or pop psychology - which is usually ineffective and inconsistent with research. I teach long-term solutions that are informed by science and experience. I also won’t hand out dismissive directives or judgments about what you “should” or “shouldn’t” do. Instead, I’ll help you make your own informed decisions based on expertise and your unique situation. Lastly, I’m not a passive helper - I’m an “elbows deep” and active collaborator who helps you find solutions. I’ve also been told that I make people feel respected and never judged, and that I’m easy to talk to.
I have specialized training or expertise in the issues with which I help. Many well-meaning individuals can actually make relationship issues, obsessive thinking, or anxiety worse - by fueling a control struggle that increases the very problems you want to reduce.
“Your approach is just the ticket for me, and I’m sure many others. It sure beats the pants off of: close your eyes, breathe six counts and visualize yourself in the woods or other wishful fantasy nonsense, which for me does not work. I hate it when I’m told to imagine that I’m in a different place because it does nothing to help me deal with the place I’m actually in! What you do is actually give me the tools to deal with my reality, and for this I am most grateful!”
~ From Sara, who is familiar with my work
Clients that get the most out of working with me tend to be open-minded and growth-oriented. They want to improve their quality of life — by changing how they relate to their inner experiences, their external situations, or to their loved ones. They are willing to look at patterns of thinking and behavior that may be keeping them anxious and unhappy.
I have learned so much from overcoming my own struggles with anxiety, an overthinking mind, and challenging relationships. I love taking everything I’ve learned (and am still learning) and sharing it with you.
